Apple Inc. re-engage in open warfare patent disputes. This time, the manufacturer of smart phones (smartphones) iPhone from the United States (U.S.) is suing Taiwanese smartphone manufacturer, HTC Corp..
Earlier, in mid October 2009, Apple lifted each other in court litigation with Nokia, mobile phone manufacturers (phones) from Finland. The issue is also about the iPhone device patents.
Apple put its lawsuit on the HTC to the Federal Court in Wilmington, Delware and the International Trade Commission (ITC) or the U.S. International Trade Commission, Tuesday (2/3/2010). In its lawsuit, Apple accused of stealing the HTC touch screen technology aka touch-screen and a few other features that Apple produced.
There were 20 violations
There are about 20 violations alleged Apple patent rights to the HTC. Among other things, user interface technologies, architectures, and hardware iPhone. Meanwhile, the HTC product that is claimed to cheat the iPhone is Nexus One, G1, and MyTouch3G. Overall operating systems using Google’s Android besutan.
Steve Jobs, Apple’s Chief Executive Officer, stated, HTC suing Apple because the company is headquartered in Taoyuan, Taiwan, that violates the patent. “We think the competition should be healthy. Competitors must create their own original technology, do not steal our property,” said Jobs.
Of course, HTC rebut that allegation. “We not only have the value of patent rights and their enforcement, but also is committed to maintaining its own technology innovation,” said Keith Nowak, spokesman of HTC in the U.S..
HTC Management lawsuit claims Apple has not been studied. “We have not had time to investigate the claim. So, we can not comment on the validity of the claims made by Apple to the media,” said Linda Mills, spokesman of the HTC in Taoyuan.
A number of analysts, Apple’s lawsuit against HTC indirectly aimed at attacking the Internet company Google that has helped HTC to provide tools for competing with Apple. “I think this is not a direct lawsuit against Google,” said Kaufman Bros analyst Shaw Wu, Taiwan.
However, Google claims that corporation parties not interfering in the feud. “We stood behind the Android operating system and the partners who helped develop it,” said Google’s management, based in California.
